DAAD’s mandate includes supporting the continued study of German language and culture worldwide. DAAD North America’s work in this area takes a number of different forms. These include funding for conferences on topics related to contemporary German studies, the creation of a number of Centers for German and European Studies and our renowned DAAD Professors program which brings German academics from such fields as political science, history, anthropology and philosophy to North America to teach at universities here for up to five years.
DAAD North America’s network of Young Ambassadors and Research Ambassadors is made up of scholars at North American universities who have significant experience in the German academic world. These scholars work with DAAD to inform peers on their campuses about the funding, study and research opportunities on offer in Germany.
